Hero's Journey (Monomyth) is the template on which the vast majority of successful stories and Hollywood blockbusters are based. In fact, all one hundredth of Hollywood movies we have deconstructed (see URL below) are based on this 188 + stage template.
Understanding this template is a priority for story or screenwriters. This is the template you must master if you want to succeed in the trades.

Hero's Journey:
) is trying to use the unconscious expectations the audience about the story and how it should be told.
b) Gives the writer more structural elements than simply three or four acts, plot points, mid point and so on.
c) Gives you a tangible process for building and commissioning of dissonance (establishing and achieving catharses, some of which are usually four ).
d) Gives you a universal structural template on which you can superimpose your situation story.

***** Romantic Challenge *****
Romantic Challenge is developed or away from explicit (post Trial 3 and winning the Outer Challenge). Hero has come a long way, but he (and the audience) are reminded that this is yet to be won: The Officer and Gentleman (1982), Zach resists Paula when she said that after what she wants (it). In Dances with Wolves (1990), stands with fist increasingly attracted to John.
***** Departure of the First Threshold *****
Upon leaving the First Threshold, New Self is slowly becoming apparent. Hero leaves behind the old man. It often expresses a change of clothes. In Bonnie and Clyde (1967), Bonnie puts on new clothes and dressed nicely now.
